Monday Nights have been our most celebrated nights in Planetside. Getting away from the constant 'zerg' battles we face midweek, Monday nights gets us behind enemy lines, sabotaging enemy bases to help our empire win the battle. These events are 'PINT NIGHTS' (Long version: "Are You Looking At My Pint? Night") and below are some examples of what we do:
We HOTDROP (essentially throwing yourself out of a troop carrying plane) together at an enemy tower or base to do one of the following:
- HACK + HOLD : Capturing bases is the name of the game. Important bases and towers are sometimes left unguarded and we can sneak in and try to capture it. Putting the hack on is easy, holding it for 15 minutes against the best our enemies can throw at us is the hard (but fun!) part.
- GENERATOR KILLS : A Base's generator keeps everything inside operating. Without it, the base is just a concrete block, it loses all it's spawn points and that base's particular enhancement (example, Tech Plants allow the creation of tanks and advanced vehicles. If a tech plant's generator is destroyed, then every base on that continent will lose the ability to create tanks/advanced vehicles.). This can drastically turn the tide of war on a continent. The key to generator kills is sticking together and focusing staying alive as long as possible.
- TOWER DEFENCE : Towers provide crucial strategic spawn points for our team. Tower defences can be very fast moving and generally each person is assigned a specific task, so we can cover all the numerous entry points to the tower. Try to stick to a given task unless the Squad Leader orders you (or everyone) somewhere.
Wherever we go, teamwork is the key. Teamspeak is highly recommended (tbh it's impossible to work well without it on Mondays) for the event, as a lot of orders will be given very quickly without time to type. |
