A two week free trial has just started a couple of days ago for any one interested. I've been playing this game for a few months now and I still find it highly entertaining. If anyone wants to try it I am on the EU Shiva server. happy to lend a hand.

The trial will limit you to level 20 but thats plenty to get a taste of the game. Give it a go, its basically World of Warcraft with a Final Fantasy flavour. I play this game pretty much solo, and its very casual friendly.

let me know if you are interested as there is some sort of Recruit a friend scheme going with benefits for both.

Been playing the last couple of days to level 10. I like the game world (jesus the female avatars are bloody hentai porn though!) and the story is pretty good if you like FF games but the gameplay unfortunately will mean it will have no long term appeal for me, especially with a monthly sub. Nice for a few hours when free though

Damn that was a very addictive mini game in FF8. Apparently they now have over 4 million registered users, not including free trial accounts. Seems to be getting popular this one.

Ya been subbed since relaunch, except for a few months either side of the last few Christmas'.

I have one toon on each of Phoenix and Shiva. My Shiva character is the most progressed, maxed out BLM and have taken every other combative class past 20 or 30.

When I say maxed-out I mean hit level cap. I don't have time for that end-game grind / bosses etc. sadly

Hence why I've tried all the classes...also taken to fishing / harvesting in general. Crafting is a royal, pain in the arse. I'm not organised well enough (or rich enough to buy the materials) to level up the crafting classes

Never saw the point either...questing gives you (mostly) good enough gear until you hit level cap anyway and you only really need the best stuff for end-game from what I've heard...

Also...Kbd/mse or Joypad?

I made it my goal in FF14 to clear each primal on each new patch. I gave me an end game goal to work towards (because Primals do require good gear to get past) without the need for me to organise my work life.

Primals are a 1 boss foght. You join the dungeon queue, you get in with 7 other players, your instantly looking at the boss right in the face. No trash, no need for organisation, you just have to hope there are likeminded players who know the fight or know enough of the fight to have a chance. Plus...you can always go with people you know too.

Having the primals to aim for has been a lot of fun for me, and if you want to go that road I can help you out carter. I've only just started getting into the crafting game, it doesn't require any gil to get started at all so long as you collect the mats yourself.

There is also the Crystal tower raid. Its a very easy three part raid which is just a large group of random people put together for an 45m to an hour depending on wipes. Its lots of fun, for most it can also be considered end game, and again doesn't require any prior knowledge to do.

The only 'end game' stuff which I don't have time for is The Binding Coil of Bahamut. Some of the turns take a lot of practise, organisation and time which I don't have time for these days either. Coil isn't tied to the main story anyway, although it does have characters and ofcourse Bahamut who was in the opening trailer. I believe infact they are doing a story version for people who didnt get to raid so even that is a moot point.

So really carter, you shouldn't feel you are blocked from doing anything in the game, this isn't like other MMOs and you are not punished very hard if you only want to do a small portion of it. The primal EX fights are great though and shouldn't be missed. And now there is Triple triad cards to collect all the old content suddenly becomes relevent again because all the dungeons drop cards to collect.

Its a great time to catch up on the game for anyone who wants something a bit different who might be interested.

I'm also a keyboard and mouse player. I play the Paladin job only because I don't really enjoy anything else and tanking is a lot of fun, let me know if you want any help Carter. (Which is weird because you originally got me into the game lol)
