I'm pissed off how much they've scaled back the graphics since the Witcher 3 reveal back in 2013, they only had a rough idea of the specs for XB1/PS4 so ofcourse, Witcher 3 looked much better back then. Come 2015 and it's missing lots of pretty visual effects that couldn't be handed on the consoles. Le sigh. Mods will restore Witcher 3 to its former glory, or the Enhanced Edition, I hope. :D

What it could have been and what happens to a game when you go multiformat and have to scale down graphics to make it run decent on a console...

http://imgur.com/a/K3uFC#uPGpDnx

How it could have looked...

http://giant.gfycat.com/UnrealisticComplexGrunion.gif?

So many gorgeous effects and nice technologies planned to be used to make the game look stunning and unique, all removed because of gimped consoles. Now this game looks like any other fantasy RPG with cartoonish visuals, gone is the realistic and gritty look, a shame. It looked like a next gen title that would have pushed PC to the max and instead we got a game that looks like a slightly prettier Skyrim which came out 4 years ago and you'd expect a bigger leap considering how gorgeous Witcher 2 looked...

Damn.

Good point, can't wait for that aswell, as it's a free upgrade for all, will be well worth diving back into the game a year later to explore all the new content, Enhanced Editions got released a year later for both Witcher 1 and 2. Imagine if the PC got the even prettier visuals back. :D

Seeing as though I've filled my appetite for RPGs for a bit after DA:I and Pillars of Eternity, I'll go with a different approach when deciding whether to buy this or not....

Does it have boobs, and how many? (hopefully an even number)

Hah, I'm sure you'll see a tit or two.

Well, the game plays very silky smooth, playing on ultra @1080p 60fps and it's not even taxing the 970, either very well opimised or the downgrade is real. But still, the game looks gorgeous and the world feels truly alive, there's just alot going on all around you, like a livelier Skyrim. But what really stands out is the music and sounds, your ears are in for a treat with this gem, combat is fast and fluid and alot of fun. :D

Only thing that about the visuals are the trees and vegetation, the quality isn't all that good, they look kind of flat like paper cut outs and spoil things slightly, hope mods will fix that though.

So not to spoil anything, when you see the first big creature near the start of the game with lovely hair physics, it does look rather nice! Also, the way everything sways in the wind, even cloth, it all looks too damn nice, so thanks for that eye candy Mr Wind. The creature designs are solid, they look really good and the animations in this game are brilliant, so much polish in the visuals and movements, just a shame it wasn't just a PC release like the days of old, what we have here is a game pushing the PS4 and XB1 to the max while the PC hardly breaks a sweat...RIP how The Witcher 3 was going to look, still impressed though.

A nice guide explaining the visual effects used by nvidia cards with Witcher 3.
