wtf is this archeage thing then? I keep hearing on the grapevine it's totally bollocks WoW clone, but from what I've read on here, it's noting like it at all.

Is it a PVP orientated game? What's the PVE experience like? And how do I play it without paying about 5 grand for an unfinished beta?

It's different in that it's mainly a crafting and PVP game with PVE stuff added on the side, closely resembles alot like EVE Online and people compare ArcheAge's farming mechanics to FarmVille which I never played, so don't know but there's alot of stuff you can grow so crafters can specialise in many different areas...I'm not sure why people compare it to WoW, they're nothing alike? O_o

The biggest riches come from crafting and doing trade runs or becoming a pirate and stealing what peple carry on these trade runs. If you want to be a crafter, then you'll have to cross PVP enabled territory to get your special payments for your efforts, even if your trade pack is stolen, you still get a percentage when that thief sells your goods, so it's not a total loss, but the risk/reward factor in this game is pretty fun. These PVP zones are not true PVP though, they go through different crisis levels which affects who you can be attacked by but if you wait it out these zones eventually go peaceful and you can't be attacked so if you're patient, you can do trade runs in safety. The open seas and the northern continent are fully PVP enabled at all times but are very profitable and fun.

It has been released for nearly a month m8, it's f2p but patron is the most beneficial. (sub about 9/month or less) Just try it

Play for free here: http://www.trionworlds.com/archeage/en/

There are PvE only areas ( level 0-29) War zone areas (level 30+) where the zone has peace time (PvE) and then escalates into war (Open PvP)

http://archeage.gamepedia.com/World_PvP

PvE gameplay is your WoW type stuff, PvP can vary between small scale skirmishes in the open world areas, large scale battles or team based arena stuff. There is a bit of grinding due to it's Korean roots, especially if you want the best gear for PvP.

Along with this you have housing, farming, trade runs, fishing, deep sea diving, do jury duty at at player trial, piracy and all sorts of other activities to do on land or the high seas.

Watch this vid to see some things you can do

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MO8fL2jYUg

http://www.tentonhammer.com/guides/archeage/25-tips-explain-archeage-mechanics-new-players

Once the Open PvP northern territory zone, Auroria, opens up in the next few weeks/month we will be able to take control of territory, build castles and have sieges etc.

Fellas, be very careful if you have your card details stored on your glyph account. I've had 200 quid nicked from my account overnight from someone accessing my acc and buying ingame credits. Rang my bank, they actually told me this is even happening to people who do not have a game account!! I'm on with Trion now trying to get my money back, but summat tells me their Americanism will shine through and they'll take the money and run.

My suggestions is to buy a month at a time, then remove your card details, use an authenticator and make sure your password is super air-tight. Mine was, and they still got through it in no time.

Is there any chance this can be made a sticky, or can a sticky post be made about this? A few play it on here, and don't want it to happen to anyone else!

Just spent a few hours in a Trion GM live chat queue, but managed to get it sorted. The GM lady/gentlemen was very helpful and refunded both purchases. The hacker bought about 180 odd of them workers potion thingies but there were no sign of them on my toon. The sneaky fecker. Anyway, authorizor connected, password changed and all that.

Hair of the dog, then, I suppose!

Not resubbing - traditional MMOs are just not for me. It is a good game though. Perhaps you need to be in a clan and have time and be able to talk on TS to play this game properly...not really an option for me at the mo. Also I don't like the fact that most clans are full of teenagers...

I understand and if your not in a organised clan you are already falling behind very quickly and cannot keep up. I now have 3 hasla weapons and reasonable gear and now I'm looking forward to the release of Auroria (the PvP continent) and the building of castles and sieges etc (opens 2nd Nov)

Hmm, I think the patch broke things. I hop onto the US server, it patches and all is fine...I then hop onto the EU server and the damn client says it can't patch it and that I will have to redownload the client. :/

lol! I thought the same with your music taste (being an indie, alternative grunge head myself) each to their own I guess :D

Never really been a fan of the vanilla mmo experience but this has certainly entertained me, still can't beat fps games though
