Imagine you had just cancelled your PS4 pre-order and all the associated goodies that go with it and therefore now had something like 400 to spend on hardware for a PC transplant operation...what could I...er YOU buy for that much?

Assume that the person already has a spare case and 600W power supply...and some old HDD's that may or may not need replacing.

Next Factor in that I...er YOU would want it to be more powerful than your other PC, lets use mine as an example...Core2Duo @2.80GHz, 8 Gig RAM and a Geforce GTX 460...

Have at you Sir!

Don't forget a decent CPU fan for overclocking unless you are going with stock. Plus normal case fans, any drives you need, and I would probably include an SSD drive somewhere if you can. A 60GB one for OS only would be enough.

Haha.

Brune is spot on for that price range.

I upgraded 2 weeks ago to be ready for BF4 and went with the Haswell (4760k) so that I could upgrade the CPU to a much better (hopefully) Broadwell which will come out in 2014 and I wanted to use the newer Z87 motherboard chipset, Haswells run hot so they're a nightmare to overclock sadly. Stuck a Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU cooler on it (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Phanteks-PH-TC14PE-CPU-Cooler-Red/dp/B005ORDOBQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1383000340&sr=1-3&keywords=Phanteks+PH-TC14PE) and the fans hardly turn on even in BF3 with maxxed out graphics settings and CPU stays around 55C but if both fans are on would easily stay at 35C (I've not overclocked the CPU yet), an amazing heatsink and allows you to easily overclock that 4670k to 4.6Ghz if you get lucky and grab a good CPU. Went with an Asus Maximus VI HERO motherboard (http://www.ebuyer.com/517542-asus-maximus-vi-hero-z87-socket-1150-hdmi-atx-motherboard-maximus-vi-hero), has the better onboard sound with shielding then most motherboards and has great onboard LAN, very nice to overclock with too. If you're buying memory, go for G-Skill Ripjaws X, brilliant stuff, can't go wrong.

To give an idea how big the Phanteks are (do excuse the walls, moved property and redecorating ), look at my PC...

I don't think your CPU fan is big enough, I can still see a little bit of space near the CD tray enclosure.
