Help with a challenging sys build... |
|
The challenge being the budget of £200 to £250. A friend of mine is starting to get more web dev work and needs a faster PC but not a gaming rig.
Any help would be good plz. We're looking at everything except case I reckon so anything with cheap bang for buck would be helpful. He's currently running XP on Socket A setup with soundblaster etc About the only thing has is a bew copy of Win7 to start with!
Thx all
Carter.

HP used to do some good cash back offers, even though it did take them 6 months to return the money. we bought my sister a PC for about £150 that way.
They probably don't run that offer anymore, but it may be worth checking around for other similar offers with different manufacturers.
big tip: avoid self builds for friends/friends of friends, you'll end up being their support contact. Get them to buy a pre built, you get to wash your hands of the support

Novatech do some good motherboard/processor/memory bundles. Power supplies and drives are fairly cheap these days if the old ones aren't up to it.

Legal or "borrowed" OS? Win 7 legal is at least £75.

I couldn't possibly comment on the legitimacy of the OS
And Lugsy I've built them for m8s before using me old bits and bobs and they've so far worked fine...but I take the warning thanks.
and thanks generally
Carter.

Chatting about APB eh Ford? It's good fun with some excellent editing software for customization but very shallow in terms of game play unfortunately - I'll probably get it though
